Day 12: Last Full Day :(

Today was another great day. We took our time in the morning as it was a little overcast. We stopped by our usual Curbside Coffee and Bagels for a matcha and flat white. We walked the streets looking for a Wānaka souvenir – the fact that there weren’t too many of these type sof shops made us love the place even more. We checked out a few menus before deciding on Urban Grind for brekky. It was exactly what Brian had in mind. A full brunch plate with eggs, sausage, bacon tomato, and mushrooms along with a unique preparation of avocado sourdough toast. The side mango smoothie didn’t hurt either. Probably the best breakfast of the trip.

We did a little walk along the water, admired Roy’s peak from a bench and then hit the beach for some reading and swimming. The sun started to hide behind the clouds so we made our way back to freshen up. We took our time, started to pack a little, and decided The Stoaker was the move for our last dinner. There was a tasting board on the menu last night that we didn’t end up getting because we thought it could be too much food. But we saw a few being served last night and thought we could take a crack at it. Where to start? Salmon and teriyaki, sausage and prawns, chicken thighs over potatoes, lamb meatballs over polenta squares, and venison with carrots. And because why not – more crack pie for dessert.
