Days 5 & 6: Castles to Capital

After a final breakfast at Kilkea, we snuck in a little castle lawn lounging. Blanket down, cheeks in the breeze, Liam supervising the clouds overhead.

Then, with the castle in our rearview, we hit the road to Dublin. Once there, we reunited with the rest of the Wright clan (yay!) and popped into Mister Magpie Coffee, where we spotted a few familiar summit faces and met a whole lot of new ones. Our place happened to back up to a great-looking park and so—yep, you guessed it—we tested out a little park hang.

That evening, while the soccer folks gathered for the opening ceremony of the U.S. Medical Soccer Summit, the non-players headed to Roly’s for dinner. And by dinner, we mostly mean Liam’s buffet. He rotated through everyone’s plates like a tiny, determined food critic. A little bit of pasta here, a swipe of local hake there…no one was spared, and no crumb left behind.

The next day kicked off with a solo morning run for Anna (major points for motivation), before stumbling upon a little Sunday market in the park next door where we picked up some smoothies and pastries for second breakfast. Back to the market, lunch came in the form of food truck fare with a surprise side of live music in the park! Liam clocked his nap during game #1: USA v Catalonia with a thrilling 0 – 0 draw.

Dinner? Dumplings. Because sometimes you just need a good dumpling end to a very good day.
