Day 10: Raisin Toes

First full day at Benguerra started with an early morning walk. Since we were still in tracking mode, we frequently checked the sand for tracks! No lion or rhino prints, but lots of hooman toes, crab holes, and shells.

Our butler for the stay had a table set for breakfast right next to the beach. Granola, honey, fruit, omelettes, and croissants were on the menu. Next we checked out the stand up paddle boards. It was fun but a lot of work with the waves and the wind, not the smooth cruising we are accustomed to at Walloon Lake sunrise paddle.

Our main activity for the day was snorkeling. After a fun 30 minute ride on a catamaran we arrived at the reef. Not fully understanding the instructions, we started off on our own. Eventually one of the leaders caught up with us and said we were supposed to be staying behind him…we obliged and swam so slowly we nearly sank.

On the ride back, we passed an awesome remote beach picnic setup…finger’s crossed, that’s in our future.

We did some relaxing on our swinging day bed before going for a beach run. The sand was so soft that it had us running in zigzags to try to find more firm ground. We cooled off in the ocean for sunset and then cleaned up for dinner – we opted for a no phone zone dinner tonight, so no photos for you 🙂
