South Beach Favorites: Bachelorette Edition

This might have been the most last minute bachelorette ever planning, but we pulled things together and it made for an incredible weekend! What I loved most about Miami was the beautiful weather and endless list of activities that we could do. Here’s a look at the weekend:

What we loved

Accommodations: this 1Hotel Residence through Airbnb

  • Accessibility: 1Hotel is located in the heart of South Beach, and it was perfectly close to so many of the activities we had planned for the weekend. We decided not to rent a car for the weekend, so being within a 20 minute Uber/Lyft drive from our restaurants / boat dock / club was just what we were looking for. Our place had three bedrooms, a pullout couch, living room, full kitchen and balcony. We toyed with the idea of having a chef come to our place or cooking in one night to save, but opted for dinner out most nights.
  • Amenities: Staying at a residence gave us free access to all of the hotel amenities. We spent one whole afternoon at the beach, and the 4 pools (including 1 adult only pool) were great for in between activities when we wanted a little downtime. The gym, Anatomy, was amazing. We decided to take advantage of the free classes by doing the Peak Power class one of the mornings, and finishing it off with açaí bowls at the attached PLNTHOUSE café. The residence also had a bunch of bikes that we could use for free to explore South Beach. I also loved that the South Beach Boardwalk ran right past the hotel, and was great for a little morning or sunset stroll.
  • One of my favorite perks – It.Smells.Amazing. When you enter the hotel it’s like you’ve walked into the most calm, serene, and high end spas there ever was. I definitely made it home with a few of their candles, and couldn’t help myself from ordering a few after I got home.

Where we looked for accommodations: Airbnb, VRBO, Luxury Rentals Miami

Food & Drink:

  • HaSalon for dinner & night out ($120+ pp): We were recommended this mediterranean spot for dinner, and had zero expectations. All we knew that was at some point, the place turned up and that ordering would be an adventure with dishes like “7 stormy clouds. Not even one more.” and “There will not be 1 second of boring when you eat this endive & radicchio salad” – yes that’s literally how they read on the menu. This spot ended up being AMAZING, and a highlight of the weekend. The food was incredible, and the night turned into a full out dancing on tables party. The music was the perfect blend of oldies and newies, and we even played rock-paper-scissors with our waiter to get an extra body up dancing on our table. We originally had plans to go to another spot with some live music, but couldn’t bring ourselves to leave the fun and eventually close the place down.
  • Watr at the rooftop for dinner or drinks: This was an outdoor Peruvian-influenced Japanese restaurant, located on the rooftop of 1Hotel. We loved the ambiance with the lit up trees, and the sunset views weren’t bad either. Food and drink were tasty enough, but the best part was the ease of going upstairs for dinner. It was the perfect option for the day we all arrived, as people were able to meet up with us easily as they came in.

Other spots we considered: Mandolin Aegean Bistro (Greek food, good vibes and close to Miami design district), Esmé Miami Beach Hotel (casual rooftop with salads/burgers/cocktails in South Beach), Strawberry moon at The Goodtime Hotel (Mediterranean food, art deco vibe in South Beach), Sexy Fish Miami (Asian food, looks extra in a fun way, close to downtown Miami), Lido Restaurant and Champagne Bar (Mediterranean food at the Four Seasons Hotel at Surf Club in North Beach)

Activities:

  • Boat Day: We chartered a boat through getmyboat.com and it was so easy! I knew if we were going to make it out to our concert this night, there was a slim chance we would be able to go hard at a pool club all afternoon so a boat day was the perfect in between option. Our boat left from the Marina Beach Marina, which was a quick trip from our stay and they let us bring any food / drink we wanted, with an option to have snacks catered. We spent the afternoon checking out the Miami skyline, gaping at the celeb homes, and anchoring for a few swims.
  • Clubbing at LIV: We knew we wanted to go out dancing one night, but didn’t have too much of a plan until we got to Miami. After a quick google search of the different club options, we learned that Gryffin was playing on Saturday, and decided that would be our big night out. We loved going somewhere with familiar music and something to look forward to, although we did show up awkwardly early around 12:30 am.
  • Spa day: This was a last minute add for anyone who had a late departure on the last day. It was so worth it to leave a little later and enjoy the incredible Bamford Wellness Spa at 1Hotel.

Other spots we considered: Ball & Chain (little Havana live outdoor music in a pineapple shell – what’s not to love?), Faena Theater (cabaret spot in South Beach), E11even (late night club & performances in Miami)
